COINCIDENCE AND A CALLING

Earlier this year a family member helped a young lady who knocked on the door late one evening. Around the same time, I received an invitation to apply for the role of Ambassador for Catherine House, and in late February I was accepted. It’s was not lost on me the collision of a coincidence and a calling to join this organisation.

Catherine House (CH) do amazing work to help vulnerable women here in South Australia. They house 52 women per night, provide education and training, reintegration into the community and outreach programs to help women move from desperate situations to achieving personal success. As an Ambassador my role is to promote the great work of CH, raise awareness, and to host fund-raising events.

That means I’ve been busy arranging my calendar and organising events. In mid-April I hosted my first event, Cocktails & Canapes, and that was a huge success, and in mid-May I hosted my second successful event, a Champagne High Tea.

It never ceases to amaze me what can happen when women support one another. But even more inspiring was the courage of a gentleman who showed up to one of my events in honour of his mother, who was a victim of domestic violence. His voice added integrity to the plight of women who are most vulnerable.

Recently I volunteered my time for a few hours on a weekend at a sausage sizzle where I got to see first hand the support from customers, some of whom made large monetary donations when purchasing their $2.50 sausage. Every bit makes a difference. It all adds up, and the proceeds go directly to a great cause!

My goal is to raise $5,000 before 31 December 2019 and so far I’ve raised just over $1,700 from my events and from those who know about the important work that CH do, and have a desire to make a difference.

If you’d like to help me meet my goal, please open this link.
